About Ms. Sommers

 

I am so excited to be in my 7th year of teaching - my 6th in 2nd grade! I am humbled and also ready to brace the new world of virtual learning integrated into live instruction!

I received my masters in education from James Madison University before returning to my hometown of Richmond, VA. I've had a love for learning and a vision for teaching ever since I sat my stuffed animal beanie babies in a row and began teaching them! 

When I am not in the classroom I have a love for traveling, an obsession for penguins, an eye for ANYTHING nautical!, and a side hobby of playing my guitar or keyboard. I hope to integrate these fun side "tricks" into the mix this year. 

I'm looking forward to a great 2020-2021 school year!
